A guy has a new never used Stil 029 16″ Farm Boss chainsaw with case he wants to sell for $250.
I’m trying to research again seeing that the long awaited purchase of a chainsaw is approaching necessity.
Have been leaning towards a Husq but this Skil has come around so was hoping for some first hand advice.
I’ll end up heating a house with it plus jobs so a quality saw is needed but I hope I won’t be using it everyday.

I've owned the Farm Boss with a 16" bar for three years. (Replaced a 14" Mac) I couldn't be happier with it. In fact, last year I bought it's baby brother with a 10" bar for trimming. Dealer here in Michigan is outstanding. You won't regret the purchase.

That's a good price. I have owned one for four years. I heat almost exclusively with wood in from October through March. I have cut a lot of hardwood with that saw and have performed all the maintenance. The saw is designed for easy maintenance. The only mechanical thing that ever happened is that the rubber pickup in the fuel tank came loose. I explored every possibility with that one being last. It took five minutes to fix. I also learned that when you have to take the coil off for either a real reason or troubleshooting, the way to gap it properly upon reinstallation is to use a "special" tool. A common matchbook cover, placed between the flywheel and the coil before tightening the coil, will provide a perfect gap. Now you have all the knowledge you need to keep the saw running for many years.
I have one with 20" bar--great saw--it came with some kind of antikickback safety chain that I hated--get chisel chain
