Keep getting yard signs stolen. Not sure what to do… thought about attaching a chain to the sign and buying some rod iron and welding the rod iron to the chain then hammering it well into the ground.
Bugs me quite a bit… thoughts?
Someone needs to come out with a product that prevents this from happening…

Do your signs have metal frames? Hook them up to an electric fence.
Are they being stolen out of your clients' yards (pretty ballsy), or do you have at intersections, entrances to subdivisions etc?
Who is taking them? The community association?
are these for rent signs?
tenants, other landlords, people having garage sales, some city agencys pick up if on the wrong side of sidewalk.
i have a sign with a 20' chain welded to it. wrap the chain around a tree or porch post.
if it printed with your number it helps, that way they can't just put new numbers on it.
just go out tonight and pick you up a few................lol
the older i get ,
the more people tick me off
Hi bc,
Any idea who's taking them?.....our subdivision has some very strict rules about signs that either the owners try to ignore or agents don't bother to inquire.....they're posted on the county's web site for public viewing somewhere I'm told.
Anyhow, if it were our subdivision, they're most likely sitting in the garage of the current association president and they'll gladly give them back if you promise not to put them back up in the neighborhood......I see you're in NC....near Angier?
For us the sign can "only" go on the property of the house that is "For Sale". Not at the entrance, not at each street turn etc. Also no "Rent" or "Yard Sale" signs whatsoever....not even on the property it's located on......of course it tends to be lovingly ignored if a Yard Sale sign goes up on Friday 5pm and comes down Saturday 2pm. We try to be passively ignorant as long as someone doesn't make a fuss but with a subdivision of 158 owners it only takes one. It may sound harsh but everyone bought in this neighborhood with the same set of covenants. Didn't have to buy here if they didn't like it and the covenants are always issued at closing. If not that's the attorney's fault and problem not the rest of the homeowners.

I don't know you well enough to guess what kind of yard signs, but keep a few things in mind - not all yard sign placements are legal, and you should have clear permission to place them BEFORE you do so. A lot of communities have restrictions on them, either dis-allowing them totally, or placing restrictions on where and when they can be displayed.
There was also a RE guy here a while back with same complaint, but he was placing them on other people's property
