Wd enjoy some guidance on proper thin-set use: have a no-deflection (1/720) 10′ ply countertop on which I wish to set large granite pieces (up to 14″x 48″); problem is rolling uneven surface that wd exceed the 3/16″ max thickness spec of the fortified full-flex “thin-set” mortar. Can I screed a 1st coat w/ feathered edges to level ply before using a 5/8 or 3/4 notched trowl for the setting coat? Am I wrong to ignore mesh in this application? thx Rand (god all this stone is beautiful)
