Construction to begin soon on my home. Any suggestions for a choice in a stone foundation covering? My builder is not comfartable with the fake stone. He uses real stone (full thickness). He is not to familiar with the new “thin” real stone. The house will be a Craftsman style. Any suggested sources? Building in the Charlotte, NC area.RickO

sounds like just a decorative facade
go to the local masons yard and have a look. cultured stone will save you a bunch and there are no special poured foundation details that are needed to carry the weight of real stone
After all of the responses I am leaning in favor of the cultured stone veneer. I really like the Eldorado ( Bluffstone - Bodega). I have forwarded all the info to my builder. Thanks to everyone! Very appreciated.RickO
I have designed varioushouses with thin stone applications for foundation walls. The field stone alone is about $12-$15 sf plus labor. The cost savings on the elimination of the poured brick shelf and not coordinating with their elevations is a plus. I will try to attach some pics of a recent application

The thin stone was used around the foundation walls , stair risers, and planters.
