I’ve built a storm cellar door and would like to put a very long term, yet attractive, finish on it. Due to the relatively flat slope, I initially planned to fiberglas it, so when it was installed 6 months ago I coated the Advantech with resin, planning to finish the job ‘later’. I also stapled 4 mil plastic over it. Now the plastic has UV degraded and I recently removed it and ‘later’ has arrived and I need to finish the job. However, I’m having second thoughts about the fiberglas; both the necessity and because of the amount of work.
Any thoughts about that long term durable finish? Am I way over-thinking this and should simply use good quality paint and plan to repaint as needed? If so, what paint is ‘the best’.
Thanks guys
Walt

Well, you're probably not off to a good start by leaving the work out in the elements for months BEFORE you paint it.
What about applying a rolled roofing product instead?
