Hello everybody I just had some new wood windows installed in my wood-framed stucco covered 1930s house. The stucco is a traditional 3 coat Portland cement stucco. The question is on the new stucco around the windows is how long do I need to let it cure before I prime and paint it. The person at the Benjamin More store said it needs to cure for 3 weeks. Is this correct? The house is near Oakland CA.
Thanks
Troy

My stucco guy says if you mist it every day you can paint in a week, otherwise 2 or 3
Thanks Troy
You don't paint it. You have your stucco guy "fog coat" it.
That is assuming someone hasn't screwed up the rest of the stucco previously by painting it.
The rest of the house has been painted many times. Thanks
Your Benjamin Moore dealer is on the right track but it will cure better, stronger if you keep it cool and damp by spraying it gently, at least twice a day for a week or more.
What condition is the old stucco's paint? What's your plan for those areas?
Thanks the rest of the house was painted not to long ago and is in ok shape. The new stucco is around the windows where the old stucco was busted out so the old steel framed windows could be removed and new wood windows could be installed. Thanks againTroy
I'm glad to hear that you're planning to use Benjamin Moore paint. After the new stucco has cured, just follow the instructions about priming and painting new stucco. That should give you excellent results.
You may have to recoat the old stucco too, to get the best match.
Thanks I think your right and I will have to repaint each wall so the color matches.Take careTroy
Pretty easy with a fuzzy roller and an aluminum extension pole. I work out of a five gallon bucket with a screen in it. Moves right along. One easy weekend to do the whole house, both rolling and cutting the stucco.
