Hey,
I’ve been racking my brain on this one and it dawned on me: ask the great minds on Break Time.
Was: cheapo paint grade 4′-0″ bifold doors in drywall opening
To be: 2 2′-0″ french oak doors-each weight roughly 50#
Puzzle: I want to pivot them on each side of the drywall opening.
Bifold hardware seems a bit light for this application…
I’m looking at Camtrol Double Acting Pivot Hinges which seem like overkill at $130. us per side…https://images.finehomebuilding.com/app/uploads/2019/01/26003127/234024-lg.jpg
Any one got a good solution up their sleeve? Sure would appreciate your advice.
Muchos thanks,
silver

Can you rip out the drywall, maybe rip down a cripple, so you could get in a conventional jamb with butt hinges? Or is that not the look you/they want?
I've installed closet doors with Hager pivot hinges. You might search the major hinge companies, their architectural products, to see what they have.

"I've installed closet doors with Hager pivot hinges." Are you talking about the hager pivot hinges like the ones in the link that are 130. or so a side?...Thanks John, silver
This is what I used: http://jhusa.net/200fd.aspx
My situation, I had 2 8' tall 1.75" solid core doors with a mirror glued to the front, they both weighed about 100lbs each, and they both had to fold open to one side as a dresser was in the way on th other.
It is a smooth as butter, and cost me about $120.
EDIT: Just the top and bottom pivots come in around $30

Can't thank you enough right now XXPaulCPXXimagine that...I went to town, got organized for Monday and when I come home, the answer to my puzzle...funny thing is I've used those before...on a set of oak bifolds that was out of level...gotta say...it's a beoitch to take a door off...I mean a @##$%%$$##%y&*%^$# beitich to take a door off. I must have blocked them out of my memory...I thought about them and all I could think was PITAI'm pretty sure Windsor plywood stocks those and I even talked to Mike there, trying to pick his brain...we concured that stanley hardware was too light...but he didn't suggest these. Thanks!silver
I just wanted to say:right on!!!!!!!!!!!.The Johnson hinges were the cats ####!The drywall opening is out of plumb and I needed lots of adjustment.Which these hinges have lots of...My doors don't line up at the bottom (1 door sticks out 3/4" past the other one) I was able to tweak (skew) the hinges enough to get 1/2 of it.I thought I'd let them sit over the weekend (acclimate) and then deal with it on Monday. I had to cut 2" off the bottom so the warranty is toast.thanks again, silver
