everybody knows I,m in the hurricane capital of the world. I have aquire enough plywood for my windows in case of storm. I have them cut to size and labeled for each window. they will be stored in the shed, dry and out of way. I have painted them with oil base paint. I might not need them for ten, twenty years but I want them to be in good shape. Is the paint all I need to do or should I poly on top of that?

I had no idea you were in the hurricane capital of the world, as you, who has been around here as a quailty regular poster since 2001 or before, still have neglected to place any data on your Breaktime profile as many of the regulars here have taken that small amount of time to do.
To the Breaktime librarian,
I posted this reply to BROWNBAGG and cannot decide if the proper wording should have be 'has' or 'have'. What should it be? Seems it should be 'have'.

Please refrain from commenting on run ons and other lacking literary malfunctions. Just the has/have would do.
Thank you.
either ( or is it Eyether) is correct..says a buck fifty.

I'm in and taking 2 to 1 on that bet. Only one can be correct.
I'm leaning towards 'have' but in this case, now that there's money on the table, I'll settle for 'has'.
It'll all end up in the pizza and beer fund anyhow.
well I had the profile filled out and yall gave me so much hell over it, I blanked the profile, beside if my profile was filled out, how could I reply as some one else,
pino, I mean Bob no piffen, that not it, smith yes that me Smith.
rez,
It just seemed so out of character for the court jester and one man welcoming committee that I had to laugh.. I mean when joe used to climb on sopmebody, he knew he had beeen Fusconized. Me - I know that I'm Opiffinated. Bob can really Walkerallover a thread when he gets going.
But you are such a lovable cuddly furry bunny, that I was totally shocked to hear you demand that BB sit himself down and fill out the form, LOL

what does a form have to do with paint
what does a form have to do with paint If you have to ask, then obviously you don't belong in this business.
BTW, I'd like to congratulate you on getting re-usable plywood prepared in advance for your windows. Seems like everytime a big one heads for the coast here, all you see on tv are folks running for HD, of trying to cover the windows with masking tape. I have always wondered why they didn't do something more permananet.

Ok , I ask again what does a profile form have to do with paint
Ok, I'll give in. There is no relationship. My comment about "if you have to ask" was a sarcastic remark, the kind of response I usually get when I ask an obvious question. It's a put-down, an attempt to make the asker look dumb, usually by a person who either knows even less but won't admit it, or by a person who needs to feel superior. In this case it was a bad choice of an answer...my apologizies.
Again, there is no relationship, but the original comment was made by someone who didn't realize that you're on the Gulf Coast, and wanted to point out that, had you filled out the personal info page, he would have known more about you. This is another case of a once serious thread morphing into something totally unrelated to the original discussion.

try this: i myself, has never look at anybody profile. if someone says there from kansas , that it. i know gabe from canda, phil too. pino chicago area, i think bob in ill, or indiana. everybody here knew I was on the gulf coast from pensacola to gulfport ms. I have even talk to jason at HD face to face and he doesnt know. In fact he helped me load my truck.
so the ? is: $200 to win , get it wrong do not advance to bonus round.
Why does Rez need to see my profile to answer a question on paint?
I do not even know where the profiles are.
I do not even know where the profiles are.
Left click on Pif's name, either From or To, and you'll see his wonderful visage. I don't imagine anybody's ever got past the picture to see if he wrote anything there.

Why does Rez need to see my profile to answer a question on paint? Well, this time it doesn't matter. maybe he was just curious as to your location. But you knoe that there have been plenty of times when someone posts a question like "how deep should the footings be?" or maybe "how much load will there be on my roof?" and without knowing if they are in south Georgia or north Minnesota, how do you give a decent answer? Point being, if they would put just a little info in their personal section, many times the answer would be better.
Brownie...you having a bad weekend? This isn't like you...seems like you're on edge. What happened to the old Brownie who joked around? You weren't pulling for the Lakers, were you?

Well, ya know, I reread my post and it does have a certain flavor of slam to it which wasn't my intention. So I'm guilty of a too loose undefined post. And it was off from the original thread to boot.
Speaking of the boot, looks like I'm deserving of one. Bwaaaaa, I hate when that happens.
I like this place and what I was trying to do was convey a process for continuum and ease here. As a previous poster mentioned about the need for regional location for accurate responses, seems everyone always has to tell the newbies to provide more info...yada yada.
I thought if the senior members would provide an example...more yada. But it's always going to be wild around here so what the hey,
Crawling back under my rock.

Ok , I ask again what does a profile form have to do with paint
That's easy - lots of profile pictures have been "painted" around here. Ask Gunner about the wild weekend he had with the Bluegrass Sisters for example. <G>
About the plywood - not a bad plan. How are you attaching them in case of emergency? On a stout budget I like the idea of steel operable shutters. It may be a few years before I get around to ours.
And you're right - none of that had anything to do with your original question. I suppose you could build a sealed plywood or metal box to keep them all in if you wanted to be sure they stayed in pristine shape until needed.Kevin Halliburton
"The Greek comic poets, also, divided their plays into parts by introducing a choral song, ... they relived the actor's speeches by such intermissions." Vitruvious, (Book V)
But if you put the plywood in a plywood or metal box, how would you paint the box? Just kidding:)

I'm no librarian (does English major in collij count? I'd vote for have--simplify it; if you said "you have bla, bla, bla," that sounds right. "You has ..." does not.
I'm betting on "has."
I believe it has something to do with later in your sentence where you use the word, "have."
On the other hand, it could be, "have" but then you'd have to change the later "have" to "has."
But I would be the last person to be considered an authority on grammer. This is only a bet.
Action is present perfect, as he began lingering around in the past, but continues to this day (we hope.) Correct word is 'have.' You linger (Present), You lingered (Past), You have been lingering ever still (Present perfect), If you had been alive 50 years ago, you would have lingered (past perfect). I think. Therefore I am. Maybe.
Mr. White, forgive me if I got it wrong.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
Is that the old classic 'Elements of Style', which I have a copy of somewhere, that you are making reference to?
I almost hate to say it but is the author's name spelled with a 'y' instead of an 'i'? Roar!:o)
I was right.
You ---- have
I ----- have
He, she, it ----- HAS they ----- have
And, while we're at it:
try this: I myself, has (shd be "have) never look (shd be "looked") at anybody (shd be "anybody's") profile. if (shd be "If") someone says there (shd be "they're" or more properly "he's") from kansas (shd be "Kansas") , that (shd be "that's") it. i (shd be "I") know gabe from canda (shd be "Canada," I think) , phil (shd be "Phil:) too. pino (shd be "Pino" if this is somebody's name) chicago (shd be "Chicago") area, i think bob (shd be "Bob") in ill (shd be "Ill."), or indiana (shd be "Indiana"). everybody (shd be "Everybody") here knew I was on the gulf coast from pensacola (shd be "Pensacola") to gulfport (shd be "Gulfport") ms (shd be "MS"). I have even talk (shd be "talked") to jason (shd be "Jason") at HD face to face and he doesnt (shd be "doesn't") know. In fact he helped me load my truck.
And you can tell Stonefever that "grammar" contains no Es.
Professor M rests her case.

'I, myself' is a mirror pronoun and should be used for emphasis only, and sparingly at that. (From the Department of Redundancy Department)
'anybody' is an indefinite pronoun and is always singular. In this case, the appropriate pronoun should be, 'anyone's'.

I'm not an expert on this, but I would think as long as you painted both sides, and edges, they should be fine. Main thing is to keep them from warping while being stored, right?
Keep'em dry, lead the termites away, and
how does it feel to have been Rez-ed?

Make sure the edges are painted, keep them up off the floor with some sort of spacers, and maybe even put spacers between them (though support them evenly so they don't warp under their own weight). Don't cover with plastic unless the roof leaks, and then just cover the top, co that air can flow underneath. Beware of termites (which seem to go anywhere hurricanes go).
Figure out what kind of fasteners you're going to use (nails, screws, etc) and put those (enough to do the windows plus spairs) in a reasonably waterproof container near the plywood. Maybe even put a hammer or whatever you'll need there too.
