Finally got some photos onto the computer and sized them properly. Enjoying a lazy saturday.
These are a couple of photos from three of our jobs (I always forget to bring along the camera)
The porch was a ripout (floor, railing &stairs) with new going in.
The deck job was a fantastic opportunity that took us two weeks to build(biggest job so far) PT everything with cedar decking.
I wish I had some photos of the flashing for all the joist hangers.
It was kinda a funny job because everyday the homeowner would want something else added on. Started with one deck, second bbq deck, pergola for bbq, hottub deck and pergola, fourth lower deck, stairs, railing, privacy fence. We are framing a new garage for him this spring, along with a potting shed(time to raise our prices!!!!)
The fireplace was done in poplar with a dark mahogany gel stain, it only has one coat on in the photo. It later received another coat of gel stain and a couple coats of poly, to match the existing woodwork in the house.

Excellence is its own reward!
From a quick search to define Port Orford I don't believe it is. It was bought from Home Depot in Toronto Canada, as we found Rona's quality of cedar left something to be desired. Is it possible it would be a more local (toronto, canada) species?
Save yourself the hassle and buy lumber from a lumber yard. MUCH better pricing and selection.
I see you are from Toronto, I usually buy trim from fairbank and rarely from brenlo, but what lumberyards do you use for decking material?
selfbump
Usually Fairbank for trim, decking material such as cedar, ipe and timber tech all come from Monaghan Lumber up in Peterborough.
How much do i need to order from Monaghan Lumber for them to deliver to toronto? does quality beat out HD/rona? Price?(I am in the beginning process of establishing my business)
