I’m looking for a way to get light into a 1st floor owner’s bath.
Has to go through 8′ 2nd floor, and maybe 10-15′ of attic, and a very small closet.
Is there a difference in the light between brands, i.e. Sun Tunnel, solatube, sun-dome, sun pipe… etc?
Or, is there a residential fiber optic solution?
Thanks.

i ran a 22" SunTunnel ( Velux ) 25' once... and on another job 20'
the hardest thing is supporting the tunnel... the weight wants to pull it off the roof flange
this far exceeds the mfr's limits.... but it did work great...
anyways... no warranty, but still working great
and the 22" makes up for some of the loss of light
22" would steal a lot of space from an already small closet... but, would the interior lens work in a wall, instead of a ceiling? Winterlude, Winterlude, my little daisy,

Suntunnel/Velux rep told me the rigid tunnel versions don't lose as much light. Said the flex versions lose as much as 40%. I installed a 14" rigid version with a 12' tunnel in my upstairs bath this fall. Love it. Previously dark bath now has plenty of light during the day. Also installed one with a similar tunnel length for my sister in a dark interior hallway. She loves it also. That much tunnel and you'll have to strap it to the framing but shouldn't be too bad.John

Bath shares a wall with the garage. Going out that way, I could make it around a 10' run with at most two 90° elbows... two 45's might work...fiber optics are my fantasy<G> Winterlude, Winterlude, my little daisy,

Suntunnel comes with two adjustable elbows very similar to HVAC elbows but with a highly reflective interior coating that might work for your application.John

I just heard of this fiber optic product, and can't wait to try it. If you are able to find it and use it, please post a review.
