Guys,
Looking to put a 20′ x 20′ sunroom onto the back of my own house. Any unique or different ideas for design or appearance you have seen that might look cool. House is Victorian design so looking towards that direction.
Thanks
Mike

Consider framing it like this. This one I'm doing presently will be open on three sides but you could enclose it all with glass. This one I'm doing has a fireplace on the left and a BBQ/Kitchen also with a stone chimney on the right.
edit: this one I'm doing now is 20x25..close to the size you want.

Hi Oak River Mike,

A quick search on Google "Images" for Victorian Sunroom returns about 68,000 photos of which many use the term "Conservatory". Depending upon your needs and budget, the conservatory approach does lend itself to an old english garden. Something you might find on a Tudor style home. Here's one link........

I have a client that took this route and included a full service bar on one side. The room is a favorite as it overlooks the pool in the back. The adults congregate there while the children swim, all the while being watched from the comfort of this indoor space.
Pedro the Mule - The won't let me in cause I leave hoof prints on the floor
Thanks guys...both of those are pretty cool ideas.
how about these.....................edit to remove big picture

Those are nice. I am guessing the first one is a kit or manufactured item not site built?
yeah that first on was for a guy that worked for lehman bros.. we did it just before the world went nuts........ it's really nicethey are all manufactured off site and prefinished etc.... ready for assembly........i have done them from scratch but unless you have loads of workshop space for all the bits it is a PIA.i did do the following for my house though. i even cut the roof from the sketchup drawings and it all fit first time.
it is about 20' long and the width tapers from 5'10" to around 5' from one end to the other.it is possible to do a fancy one on site it just takes more time.
kostello,
That is awesome! I would like to know more about it like what is the lumber (2x8 ?) and is the glass a kit? WHere did you get it?
I love that look.
Mike
i'm going to bed now but i'll reply tomorrow with more info
Cool, thanks.
If you have any info you care to share and not have to retype it all, feel free to send it to me directly at [email protected]
I sincerely appreciate it.
And by the way, I knew you were really going to bed as without looking at your profile, I figured you had to be in Europe (UK) when I saw the door handleset, hinges and electrical in the picture you posted and the Metric measurements. Lived in Europe for a few years myself so they looked familiar!
OK i've found a couple of minutes while the tile adhesive is setting...........the glass is fitted using gaskets and aluminium cappings from these people:http://www.exitex.com/Capex/cdefault.aspxthe rafters are 2 1/2 by 6" they are well oversized but the roofs always looked better with big timbers, a couple of years ago we did one where the rafters were 3 by 9 sapele and around 16' long. definately a 2 man lift.cutting the roof is no more difficult than any other but once its cut and you have the glass measured up take it all apart to paint/ stain it.hope this helps
