Support existing concrete slab over block foundation

It looks like when whoever built this garage before us didn’t dig the slab down below the foundation. What’s happening now is that the concrete that went over the block has broken away.
thoughts on the best way to fill the block and complete the slab? Can I just fill the column with concrete as well?
thanks!

A garage floor slab should butt up against the foundation walls (except at the O.H. doors) with a small caulked joint between. The slab's subbase material will inevitably settle leaving portions of the slab unsupported if the slab is bearing on top of the wall(s). You can grout the CMU's cores if you want just to improve the appearance, but I would not suggest trying to continue the floor slab over the block and up to the wood sill.
Thanks that is really helpful. From what I can tell, the slab started off level in the corner by the house as you said, and as you move away from the house the sill isn’t straight over the block (probably why it appeared to go “over the block”). Thanks again!
