Hi gang,
I am getting set to paint some new drywall, and have a bit of a conflicting report about a product and I was hoping to get some feedback from those that have used it.
It is the SW PrepRight High Build primer. I’m looking to get a smooth surface for an untextured wall.
The label on the product says it can be rolled or sprayed on (w/ 0.017-0.021 tip).
The SW guy I talked to said it can only be sprayed, and moreover, you must use a 0.035 tip. I’m not too familiar with spraying, but a little research has shown me that a 0.035 tip is pretty darn big, and you’ve got to get a real commercial/industrial duty sprayer to even come close to being able to handle that size tip.
My preference would be to roll it on, otherwise I’ll have to rent a sprayer.
Have any of you used this product, and if so:
a) Is it a whole lot better/different in its smooth-surface generating ability than say PrepRite 200 or 400?
b) Can it be rolled on successfully?
Thanks!
Eric.

I'm not a professional painter, though I usually paint the renovations that I do. I currently use Preprite 400 on new drywall, and have had no problems (usually lay down 2 coats, though that may be overkill.) Used 200 last year with a roller, again, no problems.
