This may be taboo in the Inspired House Forum, but I can’t help myself. I have been a loyal subscriber since the beginning, and the magazine has helped me through many design situations. There has never been a magazine that I have read from cover to cover each month until Inspired House came along.
I am a long term fan of Taunton Press, and have subscribed to both Fine Woodworking and Fine Homebuilding. I will continue to support/purchase Taunton products, and I will deeply miss Inspired House.
So now for the taboo- Is there another magazine that covers the same topics as Inspired House? I have tried to read Architectural Digest, and it’s just too lofty for my simple taste (I swear no one actually LIVES in those houses). For me, Inspired House offers down to earth, yet quality, advice for the design process. Just today, I lent all my back issues to a friend that is designing her new house.
Is there anything else? I realize it will be a distant second by comparison.
My apologies to Inspired House…
Jeff

I haven't seen anything like it. Certainly seemed to be an empty niche for it, but apparently not a very profitable one! I'll miss it!
Most recent issue of the "Journal of Light Construction" had an article about designing garages. That's about as close as I've seen a magazine come to being like "Inspired House." JLC is a good magazine anyway.
