The soffits on my house were originally solid wood. Then they put some holes in them, covered them with metal mesh covers, and wrapped the fascias with metal. Then PVC fascia boards got put over the metal fascia flashing when the roof and trim was done. The gutters are screwed on through the PVC, the metal flashing, and the old wood fascia. Pic attached.
I want to take the covers off to cut more holes in the solid soffit and do some work up there. What’s the most practical way to take this apart and put it back together? Would be good to avoid having to take the gutters and fascia off. Cut off the bent-over part of the flashing and the bottom of the old fascia and replace with a 2″ strip of PVC?
