I saw a nice one when riding the bike the kid over to her soccer deal the other day...
It's funny b/c I thought, "I should take a photo of that and post it on Bt!"
You got yer masonry chimney--brick--and down near the firebox, outside the house, where it flares out, they've tarred on a swath of granulated, rolled roofing.
That'll keep it dry!
I missed a shot once when driving and caught sight of a downspout sticking out the middle of a clapboard wall way up high on an old 2 or 3 story house and running to a gutter.
Kept on driving thinking of what I just saw and then later on decided that probably someone wanted a sink in a nonplumbed area and decided to cut a hole in the wall for a drain.
Went back later to shoot a pic and couldn't find the house.
When they did the bath remuddle in my house (which I still haven't gotten around to...righting) they vented it by running the 1 1/2 ABS straight out the sidewall, up a couple feet to go laterally about 20' over the bumpout roof, then up again, thru the eave and thru the roof... Looked like a freakin' set of dental headgear on this 30's crafstman...
They put a nice oatey ring up there in the wood shingles though! thanks a lot..
I have dreams of being there, 20 years ago when they did that.. with a nice wooden baseball bat...
"If you drill that hole, I'm going to hit you with this bat! "
"I'll do it again! Don't drill that hole!!"
"Don't take that window out! I'll hit you again with this here bat!"
"Don't think I won't do it again!"
"Boy, you like punishment!"
"Whack!"
Hey! I did an aluminum siding job in that color once, back about 1970. That ain't it though.
And say! Isn't it nice that they parged the chimney block. That smooth finish brings your eye right down to that very creative flashing job. Not that you'd have missed it otherwise.
