Someone posted a couple of weeks ago about a LEED certified “Green Home” done by a “University Architecture School” and how they were unimpressed.
This is the NAHB’s answer to sustainability.

Ted,
I was speaking with a local LEED specialist and I mentioned a 500 square foot rental cottage we were building and was hoping I could get it certified so the owners could get a tax break. He told me that any structure under about 1500 sf is very hard to get a LEED rating on because if there are any windows it overwhelms the score.
Apparently the LEED rating system is geared toward large homes.

Thats true. As the article mentions, LEED Certification is mostly for commercial structures. The certification system that they have in place for housing isn't very well established yet.
If true that is pure BS. Downsizing is very "green"John Svenson, builder, remodeler, NE Ohio
On the fine homebuilding blogs there is a piece about a guy that thinks LEEDS is all wrong, especially for houses
