It’s been a while but
I just got my lake retirement (10 years to go!!) property, -30 to + 34 ºC, in Ontario, Canada.
Previous owners had a 200 gallon holding tank installed, but never connected.
It’s buried about 2 feet below grade.
They blocked off the inlet pipe with a concrete block and buried it.
The tank is full of water.
The pump out is loosely capped about 10′ from the building.
So, did the water just leak in?, or is it required to keep the tank from collapsing?
Should I pump it out before winter and close off the inlet?
Should I replace the pump out cap with a tight one.
Tanks allot, literally!

In some cases
It is filled so it doesn't float up out of the hole when a big rain comes.
