I just bought a home with hard wood floors and I want to protect them during the renovation. Can anyone recomend a tape to use that won’t harm the floor even if left on for a month or two? Thanks in advance.

i would not put any kind of tape on a finished floor for that length of time. i would purchase some 1/8 masonite and lay it wall to wall then tape those seams, nothing to the floor.if you have acess to some cardboard it's easier to work with. i did one time buy a bunch of damaged sheetrock and use it,had to be careful that none of the gypsum got under it when laying.
thermoply
No tape to floor is good advice from alwaysOB. However, we use thermo-ply instead of masonite. It is plenty durable and lighter to handle and store for re-use. Probably cheaper as well. Plus if you need to field cut it to fit around a floor plan irregularity, you can do it with a utility knife instead of a saw (with no dust to deal with).
The only issue is if you want to long term store them on edge; they will buckle under their own weight. We solve this issue by clamping the sheets (with cheap c-clamps or quick grips) once they're all stacked together. If you have room to store them flat, then it's better.
Thanks
Advce well taken thank you.
