We’re adding a new wall joining to a recently painted wall, and I’d like to know if we need to scrape or sand the paint to get the drywall mud to stick to it (where I’m going to tape the corner). I’ve always scraped down through the paint to the mud, but thought I’d get a few opinions. What do you guys do?

If its flat paint (vs. semi gloss) just clean it and tape away.
If its gloss then sand it with a 100 grit paper where you'll be taping....and tape away.
No need to scrape the paint off because eventually, you'll be getting up to the paint again with mud anyway..right? : )
