Have any of you ever “imported” a specialized worker from abroad to do work on a house, for a specialty you just couldn’t get done by hiring locally?
How does one deal with the state department in getting work visas for this? I was introduced to some Mexican concrete finishing specialists recently, and am considering trying to get them here for some work.

we got alot of mexican crews around here, best labor force ever had. Many contractor stop hiring anything but mexican. Minority crowd thought they was discrimnated against couple years ago. Now they lost the labor jobs too.

That was a very tacky response VH. Probably should have been sent as a private email. Would you have said the same thing if he had asked about using Italian terrazzo finishers? Or Swedish sauna techs?

We have had contractors here bring in Swedes and Russians to do specialized log timber work and carving. I am talking about guys from Mexico that can do concrete work nobody here has a clue about. Really.
i dont think my response was tacky at all nor was it meant to be racist in any way.
Oh, so you meant it to be just plain old ugly?

I didn't take it to be racist. But it was definately in the vein of the Ugly American.

All ya gotta do is build a hidden compartment in your trunk and stick 'em in there for the trip across the border. How do ya think the rest of them got here? LOL
