Anybody use blades made by Tenryu (Japanese)?
Local store is stocking these green-colored 7 1/4″ 24 tooth combination blades for circular saws (Power Tool Series–No. PT-18524P).
Good product? I don’t mind paying more for a better blade.

Never seen the CS blades but there table saw blades are near the top.

What Doug said.
I use them fairly regularly. They make a couple very good 7 1/4" framing blades. I like both the maroon 24T framing blades and the green 24T blades that I believe are for PT/wet lumber if I'm not mistaken. Anyway.... yes they make a good blade.
I use Tenryu, Marathon, and Dewalt 24T framing blades. Those are the three I like best and usually at least one of the brands is on sale when I'm in need of blades. I usually buy 10 or 20 at a time. I can usually get them for about $9/blade if I buy them in quantity. Sometimes cheaper. $10 is about the most I can see paying for a framing blade and $10 will get you a very good blade if you hit the sales right.
Glad to hear you like them. I used it for the first time today, cutting green roughsawn hemlock and some 2x6 KD. Like a hot knife through butter. We'll see how long she lasts. . .BTW, you don't bother having blades resharpened? Costs as much as a new one, eh?

Yep. I have 10" blades resharpened, but it's just not cost effective to resharpen the 7 1/4" ones. So when they're shot from framing, they go in a box in the trailer to await their day to be used in a roof tear-off job or some other nasty demo work.
Yep, the Sharpie comes out and they get labeled #2 or NFG

Says a whole mouthful, huh? Sometimes I'll get a set of plans to bid. I return the proposal with a line note that instructs them to see my notes on the plans regarding discrepencies. Often it's a simple WTF? notation. Says a whole mouthful.

Says a mouthfull of something but doesn't say professional.
Mark, point taken. But I'd never mark up a set of plans that way for someone who didn't know me or who I hadn't ever worked with before. Many of the guys I build for have become good friends. We laugh and joke and they take me out on they're boat in the summer to fish and waterski. I break their balls about how come they can afford a boat and I can't and why aren't we working on a Saturday.
When the relationship is such as that, it's all good. In the end... they appreciate me finding a problem in the drawings at the bid stage.... long before it's framed and becomes an expensive change order.
As long as you are on familiar terms it's probably OK, but you might get more respect if you avoided that phrase, but maybe not.
lighten up Francis.
Any of You guys call me Francis, and I'll kill You.
WTF? ( Why that? Francis?)
My middle name is Francis, one I'm proud of and the reason for the 'F' sound on the middle of 'Piffin'

Piffin
You have to see the movie "Stripes" to understand the "Francis" reference.
I never seem to understand these posts made in the vulgate version ;)

neither does a set of plans that are indecipherable!

Those blades were standard for most Makita tools. I use them on my table saw and have found them to be an excellent value.

Another thumbs up for Tenryu...and, their 40 tooth orange printed 7 1/4s are worth resharpening. Hey, pocket doors can't come off the track if they're nailed open
Did they have the Tenryu name on them? I'd say some of the best 7.25 blades I've ever had were Makita

Tenryu does make blades for Makita, don't know if they make them all. I do know that blades with Makita on them are the best 12" miter saw blades I have used, bar none...I've always assumed they were Tenryu...be a samuri<G> Hey, pocket doors can't come off the track if they're nailed open
The name Tenryu was on some of the larger blades that were on the 10" and 12" chop saws and sliders. That is how I found out about them. I believe that they are used on all of their saws but may not be stamped with their name. At least that is what the tool guy told me at the machinery store I used to go to in Columbus around 8 or 9 years ago. I'm not sure as to what blades they may be using now but I think they are still the same.J.P.http://www.jpkfinefurniture.com
Thanks, my local yard just started carrying them. I'll give'er a try.

I use the Tenryu Gold Metal blade in both my 10 inch table saws as well as their specialy designed sliding arm chop saw blade. I have found them to be the best blade I ever used.
Where do you get the Tenryu SCMS blade? Got a link to an online source?
