Existing: Frame construction, brick veneer over 1/2 gyp. Bd. sheathing. (1970’s const.)
Object: Install new door thru exist’g wall. Had removed the int. S/R from that wall and had started to remove existing framing as necessary.
Problem: Termites had eaten the paper off both sides of the sheathing up to about 4′ above the floor. At the first good lick with a hammer, all that is left is a pile of chalk on the floor. Not a big problem reframing/replacing the sheathing from the inside, but how do you handle the brick ties?
All brilliant ideas will be greatly appreciated.
