Some other good guys I've dealt with.

Notice how all the "good guys" are small companies where the owner/inventor actually answers the phone.I've never met Mr. Dewalt or Mr. Bosch, and certainly not Mr. Depot, but I have met Mr. Collins.+2 on FastCap and Collins
-1 on Eurekazone for all the online shennanigans. It is extremely unprofessional and probably turns more people off than onto the EZ.
Greg, can't agree with you on Eurekazone. They go the extra mile, are most generous with their product and help you with every question that's posed. 99% of the time the response here is in answer to a question from one of the posters. A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

What shennanigans? You mean teaching me a new system? I consider it very generous of his time
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
I don't think its on this forum. JLC, and Knots, seem to have nasty arguments over Festool v. EZ. I've never had a problem with it here, but on other forums it has more of a spam feel to it.
I can understand comparing the rail systems, but Festool sells an entire line of tools. It's apples to oranges.
Dino is good people, but he takes it too personal(understandably) sometimes. I did like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffleball bat.
I don't own an E-Z product - but I'm gonna! Mainly based on the helpful input from Dino, but also based on the enthusiastic response of the users. I'd be very impressed if Robert Bosch came on board here, to answer questions about his tools (but that's unlikely, since he died in 1942!). Never seen any shenanigans on Dino's part, in the three years I've been hanging out here."he...never charged nothing for his preaching, and it was worth it, too" - Mark Twain
>>>>I'd be very impressed if Robert Bosch came on board here, to answer questions about his tools (but that's unlikely, since he died in 1942!).See ! Right there. That's a good example of why people think they just don't care.If he really cared about his customers, he wouldn't let that stand in his way.
Geekbox hero who had a lot of fun in the glass city.
LOL!

I think you are missing something when you see Dino talking about his product.
He's here to help just like a lot of the other people are.

dino has also managed to pizz off every one at JLC.
everyone is rather inclusive.I go to JLC and he hasn't pizzed me off.

Bosch had a new drill driver in my hand the next morning when i called the day mine failed. And a box for the old one to go back! Cool!

Another vote for Coastal Tools and Todd.
They were the only company that would ship me a box of nails to Australia!
(please presume that I could not get them any other way)
I'll have to check the out next time I order
dino is fanntastic. you could not find a more helpful or enthusiastic person in the biz. i could not figure out where things went wrong at jlc but they definitely seemed to be going south.
By the moderator of the forum.
"As for the choice between the EZ system and Festool...most of the visitors to this site should have the 'cents' to know that there's a night/day difference. Most of the time you get something 'close' to what you pay for. The same is true of these two systems. I think the EZ system is a great alternative to investing a considerable sum in Festool equipment. But you can't compare it to Festool anymore than you can compare a Bosch Jigsaw to to a Black & Decker Jigsaw just because they're both jigsaws. I mean, come on, we're all pretty discerning folks and we all know that."Plus, I don't think Dino's going to go off on us....but I'll keep an eye on 'em!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dino don't go off to anyone. Dino offer a challenge.
Dino is the bad guy for defending his product.
YCF Dino
"but they definitely seemed to be going south."IMO,In general that forum's atmosphere is much different than here. And like here there are some more vocal than others, either in public or thru private contact with Taunton.Dino is enthusiastic about the products and has a most genuine desire to make things safer and easier for folks to work. Some likely are jaded because this type of passion is normally associated with shills, but in this case is most genuine. Am I sold on him? Betcha I am. I recently placed an order with him that I can't believe the value of. His desire to make his customers have a good tool experience is unbelievable in this world of a quick buck.

I have to chime in on Amazon, although I may be trying Coastal soon.
Another Good Guy I would like to add is a bit of a old house restoration specialty, Shop4Classics.com. They have a nice web site, fast and helpful service and good prices for old style kitchen and bathroom fixtures. The web site even notes what is in your order and points out things. I ordered a clawfoot tub and all of the matching hardware and the web page automatically noted that a drain assembly was not included....that's not a mistake, it's rustic

I can't say enough good things about them. Whether I'm buying books, music, tools......whatteva. Always a pleasure and the few minor problems I had were addressed immediately and beyond expectations. (Some of you may have read the thread I started praising them recently for giving me a free sattelite radio that wasn't delivered by the promised date.)
I haven't dealt with him in a while....but the inventor of that "Dryer Box" used to answer the phone for orders and help decide which model worked best for the particular application. I still praise him and his product.
Stanley tools believe it or not has a pretty good PR department.
Only dealt with Bosch once....I love their tools....not crazy about the yo-yos that answer their phones. Heck....the guy in the "tech" dept. wasn't much help either.

NAPA auto parts has the good stuff.
Trade in an old hat for a new racing hat for free at Napa right now. I got mine.
Jim Chestnut - the Miter Clamp dude
I posted a few weeks ago asking about those clamps. I have been using the rockler spring miter clamps. Are those clamps of Jim Chesnuts worth the extra investment?
Have a good day
CLiffy
we've got a pair of jim's clamps.. well worth the money
we've also got two sets of the collins miter clamps.. they both work great
i've met both guys ( at JLC ) very nice guysMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
I bought a couple sets of them last year and they are awesome. Amazing how tight they'll pull a miter together. Well worth the money. I'll be getting some more one of these days. I'm not familiar with the Rockler clamps, but the Collins are handy too, are they similar?
Mike
What all the others said about the clam clamps(say that fast three times) They are just as advertised, very good tool!
Doug
I may have to get some wd40 out for the wallet and buy a few of those Chesnut clamps. The Rockler are made by Maestro and are similar to the collins clamps, come in a few sizes, install with a reverse pliers. Handy but like Jim Chesnut said in his article about a year ago in Finehomebuilding, you can't move the trim and stand it out of the way until the glue is dry. Apparently you can move the trim right away with his clamps.
Have a good day

Got a question about finishing, sprayers, etc? Give 'em a call and you talk to the man himself - genuinely friendly, interested in your needs and gives advice based on deep experience.
Could someone post a reply to me? So I can get this off my "to me" list.I did like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffleball bat.
Here's a replyMaybe someday I'll know a little something.
You're the best. Thanks.I did like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffleball bat.
You've started a thread on one of my favorite subjects, people/companies that do "it" right.
I've got too many to list, but I'll throw a few out there.
Empire level Co. - I've got two of their magnetic levels that are 25 years old and couldn't get replacement vials anywhere. Called them up, explained my problem, said they had replacements, I offered to pay, they wouldn't let me, eight new vials in my mailbox four days later.
Floyd tools - got a 23 ga. pinner from them plus some great service from Tom, their tech guy.
Senco - customer service/tech support - called them with questions about some of their nails and got a knowledgable, friendly guy who spent 15 minutes with me on the phone and answered everthing I needed.
Local tool house (Ace Tools in wantagh, NY) I needed a part so I could repair a tool at the job the next day and it was out of stock. They took a new tool out of the box, took the part I needed off and handed it to me. Made my day alot easier.
Tool Crib at amazon. For years I've gotten good prices and service from them... Buic

THAT is customer service![email protected]
It's Never Too Late To Become What You Might Have Been
Buic,
We are lucky to have such a good tool supplier locally. That is why I listed Electric Tool. None of you are probably going to buy from them tho they will sell online and ship if you'd want to.
I have never been without an operable tool since I started doing business with them over 30 yrs ago. Like your supplier, if I need it and they can figure a way to make it happen, it's done. Have even finished a job with a new tool out of the box (did lose some man minutes because I treated it like it was the best brand new loaner given to me to take care of) that they gave me. I only buy power tools from them. Not hard being loyal when it's returned many times over.A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

Eric and Calvin - I'm a carpenter, not a contractor, so I don't spend big money there every year. I have been a regular customer for 20 years.
The thing is, if you walked in and they'd never seen you, I have no doubt you'd get the same service. Just good people... Buic
I'll second you on Senco.
Bought my finish gun about 8 yrs. back, along with a few boxes of various sized nails. No problems with the gun or nails, but the boxes the nails came in were fer sh!t. They virtually fell apart after opening. I emailed Senco with my complaint. Nails for guns are hard enough to contain as it is.....certainly doesn't help if the box deteriorates upon opening. I received a phone call within a day or two from a Senco rep. They had just recently started using a different packaging manufacturer and mine was not the only complaint. Promised I'd never have to deal with those boxes again. Then he sent me a new box of each size nail for my gun.

I'll include Festo. Bought their saw about 5 years ago, worked great for a month, but the friday night I started a big job for my church it starts acting up. Called them, explained the situation, they had a local rep drive 45 miles to give me his, I gave him mine. Monday morning had a brand new one delivered by fed ex with an RA for the reps saw.
The service tech called me back about two weeks later and explained what had happened (faulty wire in the trigger), and told me to just keep the new one they had sent as loaner. Every time I've ordered from them fast and proffesional, and Great tools too.
Eureka zone definitely rocks, if you bring him coffee well....
I had a great experience with makita (putting a 11/4 spade bit into an impact chuck is a bad bad idea) and even though it was entirely my fault
Speaking of my fault, I accidentally put the end of my tape into an attic fan, and stanley replaced it for me too.
I am partial to heavy duty tools,
Amazon has been great too.
Beth @ Hilti in Pittsburgh
Duluth Trading Co.......great quality, as promised and customer service to match (even when I screwed up).

I've always had great service at Coastal Tool - friendly, knowledgable and fast
http://www.coastaltool.com/
Amazon has been great when there were no problems; a little rocky a few years ago when I had some issues with a shipment.
The guys at Woodworkers Hardware have also been great, with rapid no-questions-asked response to problems (e.g. one "pair" of Blum Tandems arrived with 2 lefts; FedEx next day with the fix).

CH Hanson.
No idea on customer service but they are sure great to look at..talk to at JLC.
Local tool shops have always given me the best service.
I've alsh had great customer service from toolcrib.
Todd at Coastal Tools has been super helpful. Their order system is the best. Better prices than Amazon on most items and you can easily talk to someone who is a bigger tool freak than you are. They also get it out the door faster than amazon and it travels faster to east and middle coasts. Amazon is selling the discontinued pls2 for nearly 90 clams more than Todd will sell you the current pls2e. their shipping rates are much less, and like I said, you can talk to a real people, real fast.

As far as cab supplies go, Woodworkers Hardware. Quick turn around.
ditto Lee Valley. had a problem once and Leonard Lee called me himself. replaced the problem next day. I'm impressed.
