I just purchased the new pls 180 laser. Just wondering if anyone else has? It has a laser lock function that allows both horiz. and vert. beams to stay on when the unit is tilted. Just wondering if anybody has used this for floor tile layout? At 50′ its accurate to 1/8″. Has anybody found other uses for this gem besides the obvious? How do you like the unit?
Thanks

I have the pls2 and use it for tiling. You'll find that it has many uses. It makes things so easy, quick and you know its accurate.
I like the one you got.
How do you keep the cross hairs at right angles to each other? I notice that if I tripod the laser and shine it on my work surface and set the square on it, the angle is off. If I shine it straight down everything's ok. I guess I need to make a bracket for the unit to hang from the ceiling..... and thoughts?
I'll check mine out tomorrow. I have only used it in the level setting. If yours is out in the override, I would give pls an email or call.
The unit is not off. It's just when you shine it on the floor and it's shining at an angle the "squareness" changes. When its in auto level mode the unit is shooting at the lines level so if you shine it at an angle on the wall it's still square. In override you can actually make the crosshairs diamond shaped, depending on the angle you shine it at. Hopefully this makes sense.
How do you mount the pls 2 for tiling and do you check for square?
I just use a camera tripod that was never used for a camera. That works very well. You can also clamp something metal to a wall/whatever and use the magnet bracket.
