Hi
The Plumber was hooking up the washer and dryer, instruction gone. Plumber went out to the shed to open another unit to get instructions. When he came in he said there was frost all over the inside of the box. and ice fell out of the drain hose.
He said they are factory tester with water and may have had water in them. So the HO was wondering if the 3 other units might be frozen and burst pipes and pump.
Any one have this problem?
Help HO worried

Bring them inside and let them thaw out before hooking up.

I was about to wonder why anyone would store a new DW in their frozen garage, then I remembered that I did that once myself -- waiting to finish the kitchen on my daughter's house before bringing it in (Wisconsin). But it did thaw out for a few days in advance. No problem in this case. I don't know about them testing them with water in advance -- sounds too good to be true in this kind of market, though my latest firearm acquisition did come with an expended casing just to show me that it had been tested. Can I believe that without taking it to a ballistics lab?
If you believe brining your DW to the ballistics lab will help then go for it.
Actually, my DW (darling wife) and I go to the ballistics place quite often. She's quite good with her 40 SW. I wouldn't cross her.

i bought 6 of them from lowes at a great price to use as i needed them in rentals. i had no idea that they had been run at the factory. i think why some froze and some didn't was some drain most the water out and some held a little.YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. How are you pulling the thoughts out of my head? Get out
I wasn't going to go there! Not that the thought didn't cross my mind. But the best plumber I have ever known was very dyslexic, even to the point of writing on his hands, H on the let hand and R on the right hand, to remind him which faucet is hot.

I bought a washer recently after using old ones here and there . I mostly aquire mine from rentals . But dw said we are gonna have a new set today so go get them.
I got them home and didnt read of course . I hooked them up and threw the clothes in the washer as youre always behind when you go out and get a washer. I liked to have stroked. I had drove 60 miles to Sams and bought the top upper line washer. I couldnt hear it runnning. I didnt think it was running at all. So I started reading and found out I wasnt supposed to hear it , huh. I still didnt think it would do the job but it did . Reading is not a bad deal.

Don't you mean a plumber who COULD read the instructions, let alone needed to. ;)
Just might want to read at least once, the directions for the newer style front load washers. There's some anti spin etc shipping bolts on the back need undone. A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

Who needs a plumber to hook up washer and dryer? I can do it for me but on a commercal job and running a proper vent outside vs into the attic, I ani't doing it and they are also doing furnaces a/c and hew plumbing I'm busy demoing in advance and buttoning up as they go.
I am doing the drywall, flooring, installing cabinets installing doors and etc. I don't to roofs, I am the original fear of height guy!!! I am also trying to keep this job moving so to drop everything and spend a day in the attic and locate materials and then rent ladders and have 4 anxiety attacks going on a snow covered roof 24 feet up. Pay the man!A friend of mine bought a new CZ 9mm it had a target with one hole in it, very close to the centre of the target. Proof that the pistol was doing it's job. And sweetey likes to shoot also she got her first big game hunt and got an antelope, funny how she had to look for a lost glove when it came time to field dress it.The plumber was locating lock down bolts and skinney enough to get in behind the stackable unit. If I move an appliance in the winter I pour RV antifreeze into it and run it a bit no problems. This winter copper pipes are bursting inside houses. So I would think a plastic pump and hoses wouldn't stand a chance. -30 c for about 6 weeks here. The young (good) plumber reads instructions all the time. his bullet head dad doesn't!Deslexics of the world Untie !! We lucky people can think in a third dimension. makes reading blue prints real easy as I can see the walls coming off the paper. I also can imagine odd shaped cabinets etc and build faster than explain to some one else. Thanks for your input
arget with one hole in it, very close to the centre of the target.the hole was there so you can hang the target on a nail
Been a shippiong strip on every washer I've seen for the last twenty years since they quit using a conrete balance shoe and started with teh balance spring chassis instead.I will be reading thoroughly tho on one I'll be installing next. Git it already - full size stacker with a steamer in the dryer, both front loading etc. special connection accessory to couple them up....

Who would a thunk an oven needed a waterline? Glad the owner read the destructions after the walls were done.
Who would a thunk an oven needed a waterline? Please expand!
Back as a kids and most homes had no NG some electricity but the main stay was the wooden kitchen stove. It had about a 5 gallon water well to keep a steady stream of hot water. We used a pail to fill it, we really liked the uncle who's house had a hand pump inside the house not outside. Think -30 and standing out side pumping a hand pump surrounded by bales of straw.
It seems that you can make some fancy breads and such if there is a steam function in the oven.
Commercial bake equipment often has a steam function, but this was the first resi oven I've seen with one.
I'm sure if you have the nerve to go over to cooks talk, they can give you some recipes.

Rich thank you for that info. I will be sure and not tell my wife! she makes wonderful bread and I don't want to put in a new steam oven.
We are planning on building an outdoor clay oven, when my friend the mason has time.
I was thinking recessed potfiller

Been there done that, but this "looks" like a regular oven.
Thank goodness for open web trusses and pex pipe.

Since all appliances at ont time or another have spent time in semi trailer regardless of the weather, i'm thinkin it will be okay.
I've stored new appliances in the garage over winter before and had no problem.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
I've worked in a few factories building products. There's no way they test washers with water.
We did test what we built but they were conveyor systems ( extensive testing ) and mower/tractors.
I can't see them testing every washer that comes off the line with water.
