On page 48-49 of the May issue of Fine Homebuilding, is an ad for a new Fasten Master deckscrew called TrapEase. Can someone explain to me how a screw can have two different thread pitches? It just seems to me that one or both of the pitches is going to strip as the screw is driven. Or was the picture of the TrapEase some sort of April Fools Day gag?

I just looked at the ad. I am going to call for samples, that'll probably answer your question. The grabbing part of the course thread won't be affected by the other and should get good bite into the framing. How it countersinks itself with no burr under the head is the interesting thing. I think we both have to check out a sample.
Anyone here ever use these? It's a pretty good looking finish in the pic.
