After responding to a thread about tape measures I thought how much my response was like my life as a craftsman and life as a person. How it’s so similar and was wondering how everyone else felt about that. My response to the tape measure question was that after twenty five years in the trade I finally broke the old habit of carrying around a thirty foot clunker in my nail belt no matter what the project was. Its like using my 28 oz Estwing to do trim work..ya know? MOST of the time all I need is a 16′ tape…or even a 12′ tape. So I went out and purchased a 12 footer..What a load outta my nail belt. Geezzzzz. Same in my life. The things I do repeaditly in my life since a child JUST because it seemed to work. In my work……same deal. Repeat old patterns and not allowing, in so many areas, new ideas to meld in. Taking the weight outta things from all the repetition of the years.
