We have 2 rooms in our 4 year old, 2 story home, one on top of each other, that are noticibly colder in the winter. Other than poking through the drywall or pulling off the siding, is there another way to check to see if it was properly insulated? I'm not familiar with thermal imaging. Is it an affordable option? Thanks!
*May have nothing to do with insulation. Could be heat to the rooms. Some questions to ask that you can probably answer yourself. What kind of head is there, hotwater baseboard? forced air? Is the heat working to the rooms? Lots of times a radiator will get an air block, or the forced air will just not get good circulation to the rooms. If the heat is zoned are the zone valves working? See, with a house this new it is unlikely the problem is insulation, even if an amateur built it. It is much more likely that there is something with the heat or the air flow to the rooms that is causing this. So, start with the likely things before you waste time and money on the unlikely.
