Was at the JLC show in Providence R.I. this weekend and saw a real slick demo of how to site fabricate trim for an arched window using AZEK.
They heated a piece with special heat strips over and under it for about 10 minutes, then took it off (it took two guys with gloves to handle it. think six foot long piece of floppy macaroni.) and put it on a half round form with a guy massaging it around the form. When it cooled they did the same with another piece except at a 90 degree orientation to the first. Then pinned and glued the two pieces together and finally routed a decorative cove on the piece. It looked great and didn’t take all that long.
Also I made a point of talking to all the cellular PVC guys there to hear their story. Koma, Kleer, Forever trim or something like that. All their product seemed to be the same but they were trying to say something to set it apart from the others. More Titanium oxide in ours, ours is harder, ours won’t yellow, ours won’t dent, our sawdust won’t stick to everything. It is really hard to make an informed decision when they’re all saying the same thing. I guess you have to look at the engineering data, and hope that it isn’t biased.
Anyone else see anything interesting there?
