Me and my wife were talking yesterday, and we both realized that Southerners are sure thrifty people. We use everything we can, and things people throw away, well, we can make use of one way or another.
Why even our vocabulary is quite thrifty. We feel that we should use a single word for all it’s worth before we move on to another one. Gotta get the most out of it!
An example we were discussing is the word ARE. It is used quite extensively in the south. Here are some examples:
1. Are ya going to go to the movies?
2. I don’t get no salary, I get paid by the are.
3. I done ya wrong, and now I see the are of my ways.
4. Are dog is bigger than your dog!
5. If we don’t stop polluting, the are we breathe will get poisoned!
Man, that’s 5 uses for the word are. We even amaze oursleves sometimes on are abilities.
How many words can you think of that you use the heck out of of before ya throw them out and start on another?
