I’m wondering if anyone may know of an instructional site/tutorial on the subject of tiling, specifically floors.
Thanks
Van

Taunton sells a book by Michael Byrne "Setting Tile". Sometimes available at HD or Lowes. Well worth the price.
Do it right, or do it twice.
Thanks for your help. The web site looks particularily interesting, have only glanced at it but will study further!

Thanks for your help on "tile". Not sure how to thank someone so am thanking personally and posting to "all".

well, you didn't post to "all" but the message was received. Unless you have a specific answer for someone, mentioning several posters in one post works well enough. We're all used to reading everyone else's mail anyway, so address it to anyone and we'll all see it.Do it right, or do it twice.
Ok, I'll get the hang of this posting business somehow.

http://www.johnbridge.com/ and the Forum there contains a lot of good reading.
Any particular questions?
Thanks for your help on tile. it looks like a great source!

since you asked me whether i had any particular q's i wouldn't mind know some rules of thumb.
See, we do tile backsplashes. many cuts and awkard angles, but have never done floor tile.. shouldn't be too difficult and Ihear there can be good$$ in it. is that true.
Also where is the best place to begin and end (cuts) my gut suggests that one should end/cut into the toe kick and perhaps start at the largest or most obvious wall, or do you start in corner??
Thanks for your help

layout of a room depends on lots of things
Boris or Jeff will be along when they see "tile" to elaborate.
Things I look for, are focal points, strange outside corners traffic patterns(whats going to be most visable most of the time)
Really it all depends on each room, best way I've found is dry run anywhere I think I may have a problem, not the entire floor, but at least from the starting point to anywhere I might have a "problem"
it takes a while, but it beats the hell out of finding a problem area after you already started
