Looking to replace some cracked tiles throughout the house, about 22 in all. I have the original tile from the sample board with the product #, etc.

Any help, or point me to a website that helps homeowners connect back to their original tile supplies? 30% of the house is done in this tile, so I’m really not looking forward to ripping it up b/c I can’t find a surplus supply somewhere.
Thanks

Hi MikeRyan,
Looking to replace some cracked tiles throughout the house, about 22 in all. I have the original tile from the sample board with the product #, etc.
Hopefully someone "may" be able to direct you to some leftover stock and hopefully a different pallet will match.....don't count on the later.
Alternative....carefully pull up tile in one "special" room. Use the tiles to replace the broken ones.....now create a "new special room" with a contrasting tile. I did something similar for a friends foyer....we removed tiles in a specific "patern" leaving some of the original in place and replaced the removed tiles with new contrasting tile. This allowed a great new look and it blended with the surrounding tile areas. The removed tiles replaced other broken ones in other rooms.

Try posting this on http://www.johnbridge.com.
with having 22 tiles of 18x18 broken, something is whispering in my ear that there is something else going on. Are these tiles laid on a slab and the cracks are running frrom tile to tile? If so, the tile cracks are following a slab crack, or some other form of unstable underlayment.
better explanation is in order.
Oh, it's a slab crack for sure.
I just can't take care of it until I get replacement tiles. The part that sux is that it's in 3 separate rooms, so no easy way to hide/repair without some minor demo!
I'll need to put down an isolation membrane once they are pulled up, but that's a thread for a different day!
You better hope the setting bed is thick enough to let the tiles sit flush with the neighbors after you use the membrane."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson

Great....it's never easy....
What about the mohawk website?
Someone at johnsbridge.com sent me there also. Waiting for a response.
Thanks though.
What happens to the extra/unsold tile when a distributor decides to drop the product line?
Does it go into a huge dumpster, sold on the black market or just sits in a warehouse taking up space?
BTW, self serving bump, where's Rez when you need him?
Over in the Bob Vila forums I have seen many, many people ask for discontinued tile. And there have been a few responses with companies that do have large stocks of old tiles..

You need to contact your local Mohawk dealer or your Mohawk sales representative. You likely won't get any help from any of the big box retailers of Mohawk. I say this because you need to find someone that has the ability (and the desire) to track down tile in some random warehouse in who knows what city.
Try this link to find your local dealer (you'll likely find better service if you don't go to a big box dealer): http://www.mohawkflooring.com/my-mohawk/find-a-store.aspx
Or, to find your area's Mohawk representative, use this website: http://www.themohawkgroup.com/sitefiles/mvp_contacts.html
Don't know how old your tile is...but the more recent the installation the better luck you will have is my guess.
If you still aren't having luck, let me know. I might be able to track it down using some of my service oriented suppliers.

I'll try those links. Thanks!
BTW, This is the answer I recieved from the Mohawk website:
<!----><!----> <!---->The ceramic style Meridian is included in our Portico Collection which is only available to our builder accounts. If you are unable to purchase through a builder, you may wish to look at Medano II, which is available at retail. I've included a list of local Mohawk retailers for your convenience.
So I guess they want me to contact the builder and buy 4 boxes of tile of them...?
It appears that Mohawk wants to sell to a "professional". That's one of the reasons why I suggested that you contact a Mohawk dealer or sales representative directly. They may be willing to allow you to purchase directly from Mohawk.
Depending on where you are located, I'm sure there are BTers that may help you (to purchase the tile) if Mohawk holds to the "Professionals" only rule.
