Can a glass cooktop be set flush with a tile countertop & grouted in?
Bosch 4 burner top, glass is about 1/4″ thick. Plan is to set it flush with tile surface and grout in place like a big tile.
So, common sense sez the glass is going to expand what the stove is in use, but will it cause it to break?
Anyoneever done this?

Joe, do they have a "tile in" rim available ? Otherwise, how about "tiling in , and leaving a grout joint you "color" caulk match?

Ditto calvin. Leave a kinda wide gap around the glass, and caulk it with color matched grout caulk.

Caulk is probably the answer, tile is dark, grout is dark, black PL urethane is most likely answer as I have it.
Not perfect, but better than cracking the top.
Bosch likely wants more for that glass than I would want to pay. Don't want to find out either.

Don't use PL caulk. It's wonderful stuff. Sticks real well. Very well. If you ever have to pull the cooktop out, you'll break either the cooktop glass or the tile, or both.

they should send an install kit.
I've installed several in granite.
the stone guys get the template ahead of time ... route out the hole that has a lip routed out so the cooktop sits flush with the surface ... U usually stick the foam gasket to the back of the CT ... or sometimes run a bead of the high temp gasket "in a tube" they supply ... then set it. Then .. run that same liquid gasket around the edge .. sealing it in the countertop.
the gasket they send is the same thing U can buy at the local auto supply. The glass is black .. the gasket is black.

Glass has a fairly high coefficient of thermal expansion so I'd say the risk of breakage is real. The glass will expand with no where to go. If it did break the pieces would fly upward with some force. Something with give, like caulk, would be better.
