Can I install 12″x12″ tile over old linoleum? The floor is old linoleum from the late 70’s. It is still attached very good. I could get the old linoleum up in the bathroom and than wet scrape the backing off the floor.
The hall wants to come up in small pieces. The floor is concrete and in good shape. The linoleum is attached very well in all places. I am using Versabond bonding morter.
Thanks, Brian M

That's always a last resort and not a good one.
Any imperfections will telegraph through and you'll hate yourself for not removing the old.
That said, there are a lot of adhesives that will make a permanent bond between the two but if you've already removed some of the old you will need to level the existing before adding the new.

Check with the mfg of VersaBond (Custom Building Products I think) to verify that it is compatible with your application.
You're better off trying to install the tile over the linoleum as opposed to ripping out the linoleum and tiling directly to the slab. I say this because in order to tile onto the slab you would have to do a lot of prep to get that linoleum adhesive out of there, and then you'd have to deal with any cracks, imperfections, etc.
