Has any one tiled over existing tile. I admit it sounds like a bad idea. My local tile supplier says that it is done all the time. I am not sure i trust his opinion–he seems more interested in the sale If so, would you use a isolation membrane. I have tiled over laminate and linoleum with success. any thoughts will be appreciated

There have been past discussions on this topic--you can click on "search" at the top of the list of discussions and put "tile over tile" and that should bring them up for you. I think the consensus was that you can. I don't remember the details. Also, there is a web site that people here often refer others to for tile questions: http://www.johnbridges.com , if I remember correctly.
I do it all the time. It's a fairly standard move. Just knock out any fixtures (soapdishes, etc.) or high spots, level the holes with structolite and cement and tile away. I use a water-based adhesive and I like to leave the tiles set for a good 48 hours before grouting.
