I’m in Arizona (the hot part!) and planning to set some satillo tile over exposed aggregate concrete — outdoors on steps from our patio.
The exposed aggregate concrete is exposed pebbles, which leaves an uneven surface to install the tile on. The exposed agg is quite rough with variations of plus/minus 1/8″ up/down.
Question: should I float a small layer of thinset over the exposed aggregate and let it dry, first. And then follow that up with a regular thinset and tile? Or can I safely set the tile in one step right over the aggregate?
Thanks! Dan Krause.
