All,
I have customer who sealed all of the grout in her shower w/ clear silicone caulk. We are going to replace the floor but not the walls and I need some input as to how to rid the walls of the silicone. I am afraid that I am going to have to scrape it but I am hoping for an easier solution.
Thanks,

There are caulk removers that will attack silicone caulk.
Look in the paint departments.
But hydrocarbons will attack it.
I have used Goof off. I suspect that the stuff made as a caulk remover will have some stuff on it to keep it from evaporting as fast.
It cause the silicone to swell up and become like a mushy rubber. If you are doing a large area like that I would use the remover and they go over it with some thing like a plastic scraper or a tuffy pad (woven plastic kitchen pads) to start removing the bulk.
You will still endup with a lot of detailed scrapping. But this will start to get the bulk of it off.
Thanks for the info. I will give it a try.

Be real careful with goof off..it makes a lot of people sick real fast. Use in a fan ventilated area. Use gloves also. Doesnt affect me me but I'm from the late 60's.
Thanks for the warning. I plan on using a fan and a mask.
