what’s the best way to tile this kind of tub. it was shorter than the space allowed between the two walls, so they built up a footer sofit about 10 inches off the lip of the back of the tub and back about 6-8 inches to the wall. what I want to tile is the back wall, the shelf of the built up sofit, down the sofit to the lip of the tub, and, of course, I want to tile outside of the tub about 3-4 inches. So looking at it from the side of the tub, it’s a straight shot from floor to ceiling. But the tub is about 13 or 14 inches high (I’m using 12×12 tile) and the built up shelf is another 10. then it’s straight back to the back wall about 6 to 8 inches. Also should the tile that lays flat on the shelf, the tread as it were, should that go under the wall tile and over the lower wall that goes back down to the tub? [email protected]

yes, I would also recomend a tile that has a bullnose profile for the front edge, esp in a wet area like that, tile can shave the skin off pretty darn quick if your not careful. The wall tile should also be set about 1/8 above the shelf tile and caulk, don't grout that seam, try to slope the shelf towards the tub.
