since i have the option and it’s not much money one way or the other on my lofts.. if u noticed the pics i posted the whole floor system is 3.5″ x 12″ gluelams laid flat & joined over a steel framework to which they are bolted… they are rated above an L360 load… the whole loft bedroom area in 7 units is 16′ wide x 20′ deep the lams make up the finished floor and below the finished ceiling… but in the baths (fiberglass shower units) I’m putting backer board down & tile (on top of the lams)… only about 80sf… should i just tile the whloe thing before i set the shower unit? which would be before drywall also…. given the option… what would you guys do?
thanks

Tile later. Too many trades will be grinding junk into your tiles, and I don't see any benefit to tiling early, except maybe just before final trim.

It's unlike a kitchen floor. More labor and material for the sh tile. A kitchen floor is usually a little in extra flooring and someday sombody might move a cabinet or dishwasher. No benefit to doing it early in the bathroom. If they move the shower later, it's going to be to take it out and replace it and likely change the floor too. don't waste the time or money.
