Hi guys,
I’m sure some of you regulars are wondering about the Webb guy that just turned up. I am a dedicated Fine homebuilding reader, and tool junkie.
I have done some remodeling work, and am now pursuing an engineering related degree. I have building and remodeling questions (most pertaining to remodeling) from time to time and thought I would give Breaktime a try.
My question is: My basement is partly unfinished and I would like to put ceramic tile in some areas. The floor is concrete and has been floated or steel troweled very smooth but not perfectly level. the area I want to tile has sheet flooring on it now (from the previous owner) but it has not
bonded well. If I take up the sheet flooring and scrape the floor smooth woud the thinset have any trouble bonding with the smoother concrete? If a sealer has been put on the floor would I have to strip it off first. I am hoping to put some 12×12’s or 6×6’s down. Any info would help.
