I’m building a tiled shower with a Florestone terrazo shower base. The base has a integral metal flange about 1″ high on three sides.Should the durorock run down over the flange and just shy of the base material or should just the tile come over the flange? This architect’s inspiration has already been more fun than humans are allowed since it weighs 500lb. and took a backhoe to get it up to the third floor bath.

The metal flange must be protected from water and/or moisture. This means the durock laps over the flange. If this means you must make adjustments in the framing, do it.
Max separation 'tween durock/tile and terrazzo base is 1/8".
