Can anyone in the Pikes Peak area of CO recommend a Timber framing builder? I am looking to have an addition added to the existing stucture. I will purchase a 28×42 (or thereabout) and have it raised and enclosed. I will complete the rest on my own. I have searched the web trying to get an idea of a price, but almost no sites offer a clue. Thanks, JP

All timber framers I've spoken to about building our house will raise a frame nationwide. There are Canadian framers that will also work here. Costs vary significantly, depending on the framer and what you are looking for. The range I've seen is from approx. $27 to $100 per square foot for the raised frame enclosed with panels. Some work in a very limited timber frame vocabulary; others can do almost anything.
Traditional Building magazine periodically publishes directories of timber framers; there is at least one mass market periodical that also contains a lot of ads and lists of framers. Its called Timber Homes Illustrated, I think.
You can e-mail me with specific questions or for more info and I can perhaps point you in the right direction based on our experiences. Our frame will likely be raised this June.
