I had to run back to a bath remodel to install one 3′ piece of base. I took the compressor, the hose, and an 18 ga nailer in for 3 nails.
So what’s the best deal on a hoseless nailer?

By considering things like energy-efficient mechanicals, window orientation, and renewable energy sources, homes can be evaluated to meet the energy codes. Here's what the IRC has to say.

Finish hammer and a nail set. I prefer Stanley.
Man, you are an old codger ain't ya. <G>
Be the same.

Et tu, dovetail?

Yeah, I'm ancient. But even taking a little portable pancake, hose and an airnailer an brads and then packing it up and putting it away is going to take a lot more time and effort than my trimbox that has everything ready to go. Plus, in reality a hammer for three finish nails is faster. There I go again, being a crabby old man. Besides, I want to get my money's worth out of the nailsets I bought in '65.
Maybe we have been being to hard on him. It is possible he bought all that stuff while acting out on his tool collecting addiction and now has to justify the $ to his DW. Rationalization of behavior is the second step of the addiction. On the other hand it is a lot easier to justify high dollar charges when you can show the investment you had to make into tools to do the job. An old hammer and $1.95 nail set aren't going to do for you very that very well.

Lee,
I have a full set of nail sets but I cannot figure out how to connect them to the air hose.:-)

"Welcome to my world"
I have 9 nail sets, all diff sizes. You could just chuck in a rotory hammer ;)
Look ma, no jigs!!!
I only have the big nailset out of the 3 i bought in 71 so i have to set a BIG hole weather needed or not
I knew someone was going to say that.

Another plus is you can sometimes place the nail in grain where it is hidden - that's hard with a nailer. Be careful.
Finish nail and a hammer!
Roar!
Liquid nails?

I immediately thought nails, then glue. I drove plenty of 8d finish nails in my house for door casing, not having a 16 gauge nailer. It's not as if the finish hammer is heavy.Edit: And I was born in 1980.

analog technology, you gotta love it.
it would be quicker and easier to use the handsaw to cut it with too.
i see said the blind carpenter, who picked up the hammer and saw!

Now that right there is funny. True, but funny none the less.
I did a small trim job the other day w/ my son, and at the end of the day, I had about $3,000 worth of tools that had to be put away.
We are all NUTS!
However......
I have both the 16 and 18 ga Paslodes. I use them alot. Great for stuff like this.
In fact, I just bought the paslode 16 ga angled air gun so that I can use all the same nails as the "cordless". I do a lot of work down the shore w/ stainless trim nails, and I was going nuts trying to find and stock straight, and angled 16 ga stainless nails.
I watched Ebay and got the DeWalt 16 ga. Ended up getting new for $97 inc shipping from one of the DW resellers. I got the straight since I had big supply of nails and two air nailers. I have not regreted it. They make it in 18ga.
I got the 12/14.4 since I have those batteries.

I've been looking, I think I want a battery model as opposed to the gas ones. I guess if I had one, it makes more sense for me to have it in 18ga. I wish Bosch made one, so my batteries and chargers would fit.

Personally, don't think they have the hoseless nailers down yet, amazingly.
I have the dinky Senco Compressor with the lil' 18ga. Quick, easy-to-carry, and quiet. You are better off buying one that is factory rebuilt. Not sure why the first ones fail.
Not sure if I will ever get it right, but I will continue to roll that marble around my pea-brain until I figure it out.
That's what I've been afraid of, that thay aren't an exact science yet - but I am getting tired of lugging any compressor and hose for 1-2 pieces of trim.
There are two kinds of people who never amount to much:those who cannot do what they are told, and those who can do nothing else.
Heck, it's dinky. Much better than any cordless POS. I'm a girl and I can carry it all in one trip, no problem...lol, buck up, baby...
Not sure if I will ever get it right, but I will continue to roll that marble around my pea-brain until I figure it out.
Ya got me...I'm not tough enough.
Actually, it's more the hose than the compressor.....nope, it's both.
There are two kinds of people who never amount to much:those who cannot do what they are told, and those who can do nothing else.
Still, the little senco and the 18ga, and hose is far more feasible and reliable for me.
Not sure if I will ever get it right, but I will continue to roll that marble around my pea-brain until I figure it out.
Portable air.
Same gun you use for the big jobs, just carry a little air.

3000/4500 psi ???
sounds like you need a high pressure compressor system to re-fill."Perfect is the enemy of Good." Morrison
I've looked at those, have you used one?
There are two kinds of people who never amount to much:those who cannot do what they are told, and those who can do nothing else.
Do you have 1 of their setups?
I looked at their site- couldn't find pricing, whatzit cost?
How long a bottle last? Would be a great tool if it would last ½ a day with a roof gun.
Heck, no iI don't have one but heard they have them at blowes
Gordsco, I heard you can get them filled cheep at a paint ball place.
I can't rember the other brand name I think there was a thread either here or over on JLC, but as always I can't get either search to come up with it?

Air Ways:With the T-Force 1000 portable work-bottle air system, the manufacturer has invented an alternative to loud compressors and long hoses. The lightweight, carbon-fiberwrapped bottle holds 3,000 pounds of air per square inch and shoots up to 750 brads, 1,300 micropinners, or 300 framing nails. It can be refilled at an authorized refill location or by using the manufacturer's portable high-pressure compressor. Cost: $685, not including the compressor. Turanair Systems. 954-753-9007. I had to spend time in the shop putting together a roll-about kitchen island today, and just got back to check in...
Thanks for all the suggestions, I am thinking pretty hard about that senco deal posted earlier, maybe after the next good cab install.
As for hand nails and nail sets - Well, at the outset it might look like a time and money saver, until you figure in replacing the trim due to numerous hammer tracks, and fixin the hole in the wall where I missed the trim altogether, and 1-2# of putty due to only nail set I can find is broke off leaving hole about 1/4". Plus my thumbnail gets black when I pound on it with a hammer.
I'm pretty sure I could hand nail trim and scribe mould and crown if I had to...
But I don't had to.

I have the 16 ga Paslode, but for all-around work I think the 18 ga is more versatile. I don't know about any great deals but it's well worth the money if you do any amount of punchlist work.
I agree on the 18ga.
Most of my stuff is cabinet related, I don't use my 15ga much anymore.

I just picked up the Senco cordless 18 gauge brad nailer for $115.
http://power-tools.gillroys.com/Air_Compressors_&_Air_Tools/Air_Nailers/CORDLESS_25_BRAD_NAILER-s354880.html
Only 2-300 nails so far but works well. I would buy again. Arrived in 2 days with cheapest shipping I could pick!
Wow, thanks for the link, that's the cheapest I have seen, and I am leaning toward the senco..
At least I think I'm leaning, maybe the world is a little off-kilter today.

I really like my Paslodes. I have four, two framers and two 16ga angled finish nailers. I looked at the DW and just felt it was too heavy.

So what's the best deal on a hoseless nailer?
A Paslode from Craig's List or Ebay.

"Welcome to Poo-ville, can I have your socks?
Seriously Folks, I need a home for 3 lovers of your life.
I have 3 dewalt cordless nailers. 2000 nails to a box and no idea how many boxes we have gone through in the 2 or 3 years I've had them. No problems yet.
I have a carbon dioxide tank(coke cola fountain) that I have ran my frammer off of. it drove the nail completely though the 2x
I have a small tank, a bit smaller than a propane tank for the bbq. It will shoot about 20 nails, with an 18 ga brad nailer, starting with 120 psi . much easier than lugging the air comp..
Bud
I was going to suggest the same thing. $35.00 at the local NAPA a few too many years back. Fill it at home and it will hit a few nails for me when needed. Plus it is great for that occasional flat tire!
