I’m managing and doing hands on work on a building addition (1800 sq/ft) and am nearly finished trimming the job out. I opted to cope all the crown and the base after seeing too much incompetence in the framing and sheetrock subs. The owner went with all low ball prices so the quality of everything up to now is marginal at best. I’m just curious who out there would just miter everything and fill the gaps or take the time to cope for a tighter, cleaner job? One of the outside corners I crowned had a radius corner and was 86 degrees so I had to play with that one a little. In retrospect, I would have had to pick and choose my places ot cope versus miter. I finally just said the hell with it and figured the finish work taking a little longer is the price for using handy hacks for all the preliminary work. As of now, I’m only creating the illusion of plumb/level/square with my finish work after way too many headaches and shouting matches with non English speaking subs. I guess quality is going the same route as dinosaurs which admittedly, I am…

Always cope
Personally.......
I don't give a shit if it's not up to finish standards. I always cope base, shoe, crown unless it's not the right situation or profile of trim. Way I was brought up and more than likely the reason for no call backs. You learn to come up with tricks and labor saving devices that enable you to do the right job for the right price.
Nothin' to it.
and fill the gaps
SOP for que er interior 'designers' ??
Heck, if it aint your place, who cares if they hired bozos vs. diy or real pro finish work
Hey calvin, sorry to post 2 right behid you like this, but had a good day figguin out stuff in da lab and about 1/2 way thru a fifth right now <G>
DW watches some cable home decorating show with the above types very obvious, , if she is watching, I usually hear her laughing out loud -- like she did in past years when either me or my color blind brother wore some very clashing outfits. ....
Don't worry about it.
I'm used to guys with a buzz on following me around.
nah............
The guys that paint for me-drywallers too-imbibe in a social setting............never come to work buzzed up and w/o the noxious fumes anymore-can't blame it on that.
I'm thinking more the goofballs that seem to get too close in the local bar and I'm talking after work/early evening. Man, seems I'm in constant contact. I blame part of it on the wife-she's a looker in spite of our age group. I've had to push over a few of the worst ones because of them breathing down her back. No matter, they don't seem to see coherent enough nor want to mess with the grey haired guy.
So that's the clientele I be speaking about. No one in the trades around my jobs fall into that category..
I always cope

Whenever I can't cope I take a nap. Been taking a lot of naps recently.
