I’m just finishing up putting in an insulated subfloor on top of a slab
floor basement (just like the one Andy Engel did in FHB #169). It’s raising
the height of the floor 2″ — well above the cast iron 4″ closet flange that
is in the slab now. Without altering the cast iron flange, how can I make
a good connection with a new flange installed on the new subfloor? Get
a closet flange with 2″ of pipe connected and push it into a wax ring or
two that are stuck on the old flange?

there's still another option but I can't find it at the moment, will search further.

Maybe it is just me but I would hesitate to stack that many of those to get 2", that is a lot of caulk joints to fail and pass some gas. They are a great solution to get the thickness of tile and/or backer but I think you are pushing the envelope to get 2".

Heyyyyyy,
That's a nice one! Seems deep enough to take up his 2" and the gasket squeezes over the existing pipe. Evenif he's 1/4 - 1/2" short he can add one of the other ones.
Otherwise - it's cut off the old one and add a new flange and short piece of pipe...

This one has three inches of adjustment. I just can't see stacking 2" of the rings like the original problem needed. They have saved me from crawling under some places and saved the day on several slabs.

Do not have a link but there is a pvc closet flange that has a knife edge o-ring type seal designed to be inserted into a 4" cast iron pipe that will do this quite well. Have bought them at Lowes, True Value and my local plumbing house.
