Can anyone recommend a toilet under $200, 1.6 g that flushes well? The American Standard Cadet 3 or 4? or other?
Thanks.

thanks.
that G-Flush system looks good.Expert since 10 am.
I got the Toto Eco Drake because it has one of the highest reliability ratings and flush capacities. And it only uses 1.28 gal per flush. I found it a local pluming supply for $188. I would recommend upgrading to the sanagloss finish which keeps it really clean.
I like the handicap models because they sit higher, more comfortable, I cant understand why other sit so low,
I cant understand why other sit so low
One word.. Squating.
I don't care at all for the hanicap models because the sit too high and I don't feel like I'm getting a clean sweep. But that's as much information as I'm comfortable sharing. I digress.

I'll second the squatting thing works better for the human anatomy. The invention of the sit toilet is one of the worse inventions as far as water resources go (Isn't it something like 1/3 of household water use is for flushing toilets?). All over asia squatters are the norm as well as holes in the ground (but I digress). Even in super modern Japan squatters are still widely in use.
That Drake is a really good flush! Seems like a vacumn s uck - really fast outflow. Not too loud. Very impressive.

I think the American Standard Champions are under $200 now. I've never had a toilet that flushed as well as these. I have two now, used to be three. I replaced one with a TOTO to match the look in the bathroom. My $700 TOTO toilet looks pretty, but not so good on flushing... and the handle sticks.

Did you install yourself? The links on the chain have to be juuuuuuust right.http://www.tvwsolar.com
Now I wish I could give Brother Bill his great thrill
I would set him in chains at the top of the hill

It's not the chain, it's the z shaped arm that lifts the chain. When I first installed it, it was too tight and was binding up. Now, it's a little too loose and going past its stop... and binding up.
However, it's lack of bowl cleaning pretty much makes this a toilet I can't use... hmmm, maybe that's why my wife likes it so much - it keep sme out of her bathroom!

When you said "lack of bowl cleaning" for the Toto did you mean that it leaves
streaks on the side of the bowl? On other forums I've heard some say they flush well but complain about streaking. Thanks.
Exactly.

Hi jackplane,
Can anyone recommend a toilet under $200, 1.6 g that flushes well? The American Standard Cadet 3 or 4? or other?
We get rid of old tennis shoes by flushing 'em down our Toto......actually that's what the plumbing supply house told us and we've never had a problem with the four in our house.
Personally I've found that using 4" waste line with a drop of at least 2' and two 45's instead of a 90 as it joins the main will often provide everything you need to prevent stopage.
Our old house had a typical 3 gallon toilet, 3" drain, 5" drop to it's first 90 and all sorts of turns......plunged that blasted thing daily.

Whatever brand you buy, check the shape of the trap-bend cast into the bowl. This is much more indicative of flushability than the diameter of the hole.
Bends that are folded back too tightly upon themselves (left, below) don't flush worth a cräp; OTOH wide, sweeping trap-bends (right, below) will happily swallow the longest brown trout a human being is ever likely to give birth to....

2 years ago I threw out all the American Standards in my parents house and replaced with Toto's. Wish I had spec'ed them from the beginning. The few times I've stayed there I've put them through the paces with nary a problem.
IIRC, you had problems with the first release of the AS Chanmpions?
