Been hunting around for some sort of small container, bag, whatever to store my block planes in. Planes by nature are a bit delicate and I always worry about damaging them when I’m carrying them around in a tool box or what have you.
Anyway, after much hunting I’ve started using the insulated, nylon fabric containers for water bottles (designed as an accesory for your tool belt). They’re the right length, have a zipper down the length and seem to work just great. Plus, they’re CHEAP; I think I paid about $5.00 bucks at one of the big chain outfits.

Sam-
Sounds like a good idea. I'll look for some. I had made a sectioned wooden tool box with divided sections to prevent them from moving too much. The sections are just big enough that they would fit nicly in these bags.
A place for everything.....and everything in it's place
*A place for everything, and everything on the floor of the van! I hate doing two different jobs at once! Jeff
*A carpenter I know carries his block plane in a bag that held a liquor bottle. I think it is Crown Royal? Blue bag with gold draw string?Ed. Williams
*try a rectangular sink sponge and a rubber band.you can even dab a bit of tool oil on the sponge to keep the edge of the iron from rusting.
*Jeff-I hear ya. Every time I go to the supply house, they ask 'you want a job name on this' Trouble is, I'm buying stuff for two or three different jobs at a time.Too many irons in the fire.....
