We are planning a “Topping Out” ceremony for a community project, and although I remember some discussion here a couple of years ago, I can’t find anything in the archives under “topping out” or “topping off”.
The ceremony will serve to recognize the folks who raised the funds and those of us involved with the construction effort, but most importantly, to give credit to the many who contributed cash, materials and labor towards the effort.
So the media folks can have some good shots, we’re scheduling the event at a point where the roof framing and sheathing will be in place (some purists might have said not to wait for the sheathing).
I’d appreciate some tips as to how to conduct this properly… Nail up a pine bough? Raise a flag? Have a benediction?
Here’s the project:
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve
