I am a residential contractor and remodeler in South Carolina. I plan to set up a 10 x 10 booth at a local trade show. How do I present myself in the show so visitors understand I am a contractor. Efforts thus far to show before & after photos or specific products gets me
recognized for those items only. If I show a before and after kitchen;
people think that’s all I do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've got no marketing expertise at all, but I have worked with a volunteer organization that had to address some of the same issues when doing public service fairs, fund raisers, etc.
These are just some suggestions from my experience. Since you want to emphasize the wide range of your work, I would think that you want to keep the larger, background displays simple but diverse. You want to grab attention, but you don't want to try to broadcast the whole message en masse. Basically, company name, high & centered, and, lower & on each side of your display the areas that you want to do work in, e.g., kitchen remodel, framing, additions, decks, roofing, baths, whatever, with a simple large picture of a project in each class. Then have a tabletop display, notebooks or handout brochures showing more extensive photos of your work, description of your skills, etc., and business cards, of course.

From Marketing 101, what are people really buying when they purchase a drill?
The answer is: holes.
You sell home improvements. Examples include: blah, blah and blah, but thats not all.
What would you like to add or improve in your home? We can help you make it happen. What can we do for you?
Don't sell features, like a new kitchen -
Sell benefits. Easier preparation, better meals, more storage, etc.
I would build my booth around a concept like this.
Sorry I can't be more specific at the moment, but flu and Robitussin PM is a powerfull stupid.
